Tips: Teaching At Our Music Room
Created by a music teacher, Our Music Room is designed around the practical details that make lessons easier to run - a comfortable teaching setup, useful equipment, simple scheduling and a private space for you and your students.
Whether you are teaching an occasional lesson, building a regular weekly schedule or preparing a student for a video recording, here are some ways to make the most of the room.
-
Teaching schedules can change. Students may need replacement lessons, additional preparation before an exam or a different timing during busy periods.
Through the online booking system, you can:
View live availability
Book available sessions directly online
View your upcoming bookings in your account calendar
Reschedule eligible bookings more than 12 hours before the session start time
This gives you more control over your teaching schedule, without needing to wait for replies or manual approval for standard booking changes.
-
For teachers running regular lessons, having a familiar teaching space can make scheduling easier for both you and your students.
With a package, you can book regular lesson sessions at better per-session rates. After booking the same weekly timing for 4 consecutive weeks, you may request to reserve that recurring weekly slot for future weeks.
Once your recurring slot is confirmed, your reserved sessions are invoiced monthly. If your weekly timing occurs five times in a particular month, the additional session is charged at the same discounted per-session rate applicable to your package.

Every teacher works differently.
Our Music Room is designed to let you arrange your lesson setup in the way that works best for you and your student. Alongside the regularly tuned Yamaha U1 upright piano, the room includes flexible furniture and practical teaching tools such as:
An adjustable piano stool and pedal extender for students of different ages and sizes
A height-adjustable teaching table that can be positioned beside the piano or another instrument for sheet music, teaching notes or devices
An adult-sized desk and child-friendly table for theory, worksheets and written activities
Music stands, a mirror and a whiteboard for demonstrations, posture work and lesson explanations
Convenient power points, extension cables, Wi-Fi and a phone charging station to support digital materials and longer teaching days
-
The same room you use for lessons can also support student performance recordings and recording preparation.
The spacious layout, together with multiple tripod and phone-holder options, gives you the flexibility to test different camera positions and choose a setup that best suits your student, instrument and required framing. A tabletop ring light is also available where additional lighting is helpful.
This can be useful for:
Checking framing, presentation and confidence on camera
Recording in a familiar space where your student already feels comfortable
Preparing for ABRSM or Trinity performance exam recordings
Audition or performance videos
Mock recordings before the final take
Before the actual recording date, try out the available tripod setups, camera angles, lighting and sound during a regular lesson. This allows you and your student to settle on a suitable recording setup in advance, without the added pressure of figuring it out on the day itself.

Students and families can find food options within Sunshine Plaza for a meal or snack before or after lessons, while accompanying parents have places close by to wait during a session.
For teachers, Sunshine Plaza is also well known for its affordable printing shops — useful when you need to print worksheets, theory materials or last-minute lesson resources.
Located within a mixed-use development and surrounded by residential areas, the room is also a convenient lesson location for students and families living nearby.
The mall is easily accessible by public transport, with Bencoolen MRT and Bras Basah MRT nearby, and onsite parking available for those arriving by car.
